Cortex Camera App Reviews

Greatly enhance your camera

This app makes your megapixel number bigger. Reduce noise. Things turn out sharper. Its very helpful for taking photos in the dark or if you want to digitally zoom in later. It can also make water waves look like a longer exposure too. Highly recommended especially now its updated for iOS 9 and iPhone 6s.

Not useful anymore

I have used this since my 5s, and it always was great for low light. But since the last update, I compared it to my built in camera app on my 6s plus and the default images were just as nice and a 1/3 of the size.

Favorite app has stopped working

UPDATE: Still not working on my 6s. No picture, just black. I dont get it. And I just updated it and the update doesnt work either. Good thing the 6s has improved its lowlight function since this app is complete useless now. PREVIOUS: Image has just been black for weeks across multiple phones. I use this app often and it stinks that it hasnt worked at all recently. Will change rating when its back to being useful.

Great camera app, could use some work

Theres no doubt that Cortex Camera takes clearer photos with less noise in low light than any other camera app I have used (ProCamera 8 - my previous go to for night shots, ProCam 2, & Slow Shutter!). However, it should be mentioned that sometimes photos have unwanted results such as blurred areas or jagged lines caused by not using a tripod or a moving subject. It would be nice if there was more features such as separate focus/exposure controls, and manual controls that were introduced in iOS 8. The UI could also use a change. It feels very basic and cheap. It doesnt look as nice as other apps. Overall, its a great concept and it does create good quality photos in some situations. I wouldnt say its worth the $2.99 price tag. I think $0.99 or $1.99 would be a better price.

Cheap camera app

Pics no better than native iPhone camera. No night shots, not mentioned in description. No manual exposure setting. Dont waste your money here, several good apps out there.

Finally

I knew a median blending or signal averaging app must exist, but it took a lot of searching to find this one. This app needs better keywords in the description so more users can discover it! One use for this app that you may not have thought of: the increased resolution output makes the digital zoom very effective! The app remains very basic, but it is the only one out there that takes advantage of this technique. I would like to have the option to adjust exposure to make it more useful for low light shots.

Great photography app

Love this app! It makes the iPhone camera even better and the only improvement that I think it needs is speed when taking pictures.

Nice -also enhances pictures of display screens

Using iPad 2 a photo of a computer monitor is nearly unreadable - but with this app it becomes readable. Also routinely using in low light to improve Office Lens captures. I can get better photos of documents, and even phone screens... Then import to Office Lens which does OCR to PDF..and synchs them to my PC via OneDrive where I can cut and paste into Bing translator.. And thus I read those Chinese SMS messages I get.

Great!

Please add separate exposure and focus controls! Otherwise its an awesome app.

Wow - best camera by far

Ive been enjoying this app for almost two years. The app description doesnt mention how much it upscales the front facing camera. I used the Actual Pixels app to see the resolution - 6.5 megapixels! Low light selfies are crystal clear. Love this app.

Phenomenal!

Hands down 5 stars. Anyone who doesnt get the brilliance of this app is technically inept. Update Feb 25, 2016: Disappointed that new version is only for iOS 9. Hoping developer will fix. Still leaving 5 stars. For a program of 1.6MB, this so much more than so many others, in this era of software bloat.

Great for still life with no motion blur

It works well. The difference is clear once it starts getting dark and the ISO increases. I think it might be slightly over sharpened. However, the last update made using the app on my 5S very slow. Taking pictures used to be very fast. Now the exposure is about twice as long, requiring me to hold steady for about 4 seconds. In addition, processing time increased over 3 times (6 seconds). Not a big deal, but seems like a downgrade. Is this intentional in order to make it "higher quality" in the last update?

My favorite high resolution photo app

On this new version 1.97, cortex has been greatly improved over previous updates. Image quality is top notch at the moment and I enjoy using this app for generating crisp clear photos during the day and during the night. Take in mind that a larger image will look better when printed if anybody ever print their iPhone photos. This app is crisp and clean but you do have to hold still, I generally and hold firmly or use a small tripod when shooting landscapes with my iPhone. I highly recommend cortex camera for low noise images and general photography. On the iPhone 6s and 6S plus, images are equivalent to a 27.4 megapixel camera. I then will take that image and reduce it to a 20 megapixel in size to get the best clarity and overall image quality. I usually resize my images in the app called Big Photo.

Nothing better for low light still shots.

It is absolutely amazing what this app can do. Take a picture of a candle lit dinner. You will be amazed.

Best camera for landscape and low light photography, moreover it also creates a high resolution photo. Totally awesome.
